Obituary of Emma C. Williams

Please share a memory of Emma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Emma C. (Florindo) Williams, 83, of Carver, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.  Beloved wife of Robert C. (Pete) Williams, for over 60 years.  Loving mother to Michael Williams and his wife, Lynne, and Mari Ellen Williams and her partner Michael Facchini.  Adored Nana to Christopher Williams, Craig Williams and his wife Jenna.  She leaves behind her most precious treasures, her great grandchildren, Chase, Wes, Brayden and Charlotte Williams.

Emma was born in New Bedford, daughter to Joseph and Maria Florindo.  She grew up in Wareham and lived most of her beautiful life in Carver surrounded by all her family.

Emma worked in the Carver Schools Cafeteria for 31 years and was well known to many as the lunch lady.  She also took great pride working with the family cranberry and sawmill business.  During her time, she gladly volunteered with the Heart Association, Carver Firefighter’s Women’s Auxiliary, Cub Scouts, Sunday School, Carver Old Home Day and Tobey Hospital.

Emma was an avid New England sports fan, especially football, as was a cheerleader in Wareham High School, where she graduated from in 1957.  She was so very proud when her grandsons played sports in school as she tried to attend all the games and could be heard from afar routing them on.  Emma enjoyed watching and traveling to Nascar races with her husband, family and friends.

Emma’s passion was working in her vegetable garden, which sadly she was unable to start this year.  She was an amazing cook and always loved feeding anyone who entered her home, especially her great grandchildren.

Emma was one of eleven children and was predeceased by all her siblings, Joseph, Antone, Edward, Edmund, Albert and Mary Florindo, Gloria McWilliams, Irene Slater, Mary Strawn and Margaret Meier.  She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters in-laws, all whom she loved dearly.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 17th from 4-7:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 MainSt (rt. 58) Carver. A funeral service will be held on n Wednesday May 18th at 10:00 AM at the Union church in South Carver.
