I first met Glenn in the fall of 1976 just after my application for membership at Thorny Lea had been approved. He was sitting by himself in the old grille room and he beckoned me over to his table, saying he had read my application and wondered "just what the night editor at the Boston Globe does?" With that, a longtime series of chats between us well into the new century followed, a good deal of it about the life and times of Thorny Lea Golf Club at middle age (1940s-1960s). Glenn was a fount of information about the club, and, further, he was a most interesting conversationalist who always was willing to engage whatever topics were in the news at the time. A fine man has left us after a long and productive life. I offer my condolences to his extended family on their loss. Tom Mulvoy
