Obituary of Cynthia M. Dunn

Please share a memory of Cynthia M. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Cynthia Mary Dunn (Cindy) announces her passing on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 at the age of 83.  Cindy was born in Ware and was the daughter of Lena and Angelo Marchetti.  She was predeceased by her husband Raymond andbrother Peter, and is survived by her sisters Angela and Linda.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Steve (Chris), Garret (Margo), and Jodi (Dave).  Cindy will also be fondly remembered by her six grandchildren, Hayden, Molly, Parker, Jordan, Owen, and Jackson, and four step-grandchildren, Sam, Paige, Henry and Morgan, along with many nieces.  Cindy will also be forever remembered by her extended family and dear friends, including those in her Town and Country community in Kingston.

A native of Whitman, Cindy’s passion in her early days centered around the Boston Red Sox. Her obsession started when she became babysitter to Red Sox legend Jimmy Piersall and from there, she was hooked and became a lifelong fan.  She was also a big fan of danceand musicals, with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and West Side Story being her all-time favorites. In 1961, she married Raymond Dunn Jr. of Pembroke, and settled on the South Shore, where they began to build their life together.  Cindy was a dedicated mother and provider, shuttling her kids to and from sports practices and dance recitals.  In the early 1970s, the family moved to Southern Vermont where Cindy worked at Vernon Elementary School and made many lifelong friends.

In her later years, Cindy was the copilot when she and Ray went travelling in their RV,crisscrossing the country four times in theirretirement years.  The RV was handy, so they could bring their Shih-Tzus Saki, Pepper, Miko and Toki with them.  Cindy was also a volunteer knitter, creating baby caps and blankets for Alzheimer patients.  Cindy and Ray also had the opportunity to spend long stretches of time in Hawaii, where they invited friends to join them during their stays.  Cindy’s greatest love was the beach – she relished living out at the Gurnethunting for sea glass and watching the tides come and go – it was her happy place.

Memorial visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 10th from 1pm – 5pm, at Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (rt. 106), Kingston, MA 02364

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cindy can be made to the Jimmy Fund, the main charity of her beloved Red Sox.
