Obituary of Carole H Brown
Carole Helen Brown, our Mum, Nana and Friend, passed away on January 26, 2023 surrounded by love and a wonderful support team.
Born to Bernard and Wilma Starr in 1941, Carole grew up in Dedham, MA with her two sisters, Jacqueline and Bernadette. After graduating high school, she worked briefly at Factory Mutual before marrying and having two children, Beth Ann and Chris. Once they reached school-age, she went back to work, this time at Tura’s Pharmacy in her new hometown of Kingston, MA. Carole would go on to work at “Tura’s” for close to 40 years and enjoyed seeing most of the area residents come through the doors on a regular basis. Her favorite part of the job? The people…and organizing the card section-she always loved greeting cards.
Carole took great joy in the everyday things in her life-family, friends, animals, music, reading, walks to everywhere and any activity you asked her to join in on. Her priority was always family, which included attending her children’s activities-meaning a lot of time spent in hockey rinks and on soccer fields as well as at Greys Beach. Her greatest joy was welcoming her four grandchildren to the world and being involved in their activities as they grew up. She also enjoyed raising the multitude of family pets. Carole was a true animal lover, with a household that included dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and lots of fish over the years. Her love for animals extended to the wild ones, too, and she particularly enjoyed seeing the wild wolf population restored in our country.
Carole was predeceased by her parents and her sister Jacqueline. She is survived by her sister Bernadette, her daughter Beth Ann and husband Scott Matthews, her son Chris, wife Kelly and their children, Jarrad, Hayden, Lucas and Addison Brown. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews along with dear friends Janet and Bill Sherman and Carolyn Brown.
At Carole’s request, there will be a private family service. If you would like to celebrate her life, please spend that extra moment with a loved one, take a walk in a snowstorm, head to the beach to watch the waves crash ashore during a spring storm, send (or better yet, make!) a greeting card just because, dance at every wedding you attend, listen to classic rock, Motown or the soundtrack to Last of the Mohicans, take a moment to enjoy the presence of a beloved pet, sit and read a good book past midnight, eat a delicious slice of carrot cake or call a dear friend or family member on a Tuesday night to chat for hours. Whatever you do, do it like she would- with kindness, humor and maybe just a hint of sarcasm. She will be right there beside you for all of it, loving every moment.
Beth and Chris would like to thank the amazing team at Plymouth Crossings and Beacon Hospice for caring for Carole (and them) over the past few years. If you wish to make a donation in her memory, please consider the Alzheimer’s Association, Beacon Hospice or the ASPCA.
Mum, you are loved and you are missed.
In Loving Memory
Carole Brown
