Obituary of Donald E. Bishop

Donald E. Bishop, 82, of Duxbury entered into eternal life surrounded by family on February 11, 2023.

He was born in Weymouth on February 26, 1940 to Willard and Edith (Shores) Bishop. He was predeceased by his sister Diane (Bishop) Mason.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years Marion (Sullivan) Bishop his four children,daughter Robin Nudd and her husband Loring of Duxbury, daughter Stephanie Sousa and her husband Harold of Maine, daughter Lisa Houston and her husband Douglas of Plymouth; and son Jeffrey Bishop and his wife Joanna of Duxbury. As well as 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Donald graduated Weymouth High School and went on to Northeastern University. He built his first home in Halifax where he learned to be a Mason. In 1967 he moved his family to Duxbury and continued his career as a Mason, building many of the chimneys, stairs, patios and stone walls still in town. Donald’s greatest joy, after his family, was his garden. If not at work, that’s where you could always find him. His home was always open to friends and filled with much laughter and occasional dancing (which he was very good at). He was at every event for his family giving much love and support.

Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He taught us how to cherish time together as a family, work hard, be humble and proud.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Donald at a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 31, at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont St. Duxbury, followed by interment at Mayflower Cemetery.
