Obituary of Joan I. Christiano

Joan I (Edwards) Christiano, age 89 of Carver, died on February 24th, 2023.  She was the wife of the late Francis A. Christiano for 36 years.  Born in Boston on January 18, 1934, daughter of the late Robert J. and Minnie (Begelkey) Edwards, she was raised in Boston and was a graduate of the Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls.  She was a resident of Carver since 1964, previously residing in Randolph.  She was employed at Sentry Insurance in Boston as a Legal Secretary for 14 years.  She worked for the Town of Carver for 19 years and retired from the Town as the assistant Tax collector in 1998.  She was a lifetime member of the Carver Democratic Town Committee.  Also, a member of the Plympton/Carver Triad Senior Citizen group.  Joan was an avid book reader with Danielle Steele as her favorite author, loved to Crochet and make wreaths.  She was also the owner of Water’s Edge Ceramics for many years in her home.  
Joan is survived by her son Francis A. Christiano II and his wife Kerri of Willis, TX and her 4 grandchildren, Ryan and Faith Christiano of Willis, TX, Kathryn Coveney of Carver, MA and Angela Thompson of Richmond, TX.  She is survived by loving nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends.  A special thanks to her nieces Karen White and Kathy Bulger for being there and caring for her in her time of need.  She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Christiano, and her siblings Donald Edwards, Dorothy Bulger, Alvin Edwards, Margaret (Betty) MacGillivray, Walter Edwards and Robert Edwards, Jr.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation at Shepherd’s Funeral Home, Main Street Carver, MA on March 1st from 4 to 8 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, Main Street, Carver, MA  on March 2nd at 10:30 AM followed by interment at Central Cemetery in Carver, MA.
