I was so sad to hear about Jack's death. I haven't been well but, had I known, I would have been at the funeral mass.
I have such wonderful memories of living across the street from Jack and Mary on Flint Locke Drive. We watched you build your house as a young married couple. Then we watched those adorable babies arrive, grow up and become Jack's pride and joy.
Jack was such a great neighbor. His yard and landscape was a thing of beauty.
After I sold our house, I rarely saw Jack but when I did he made me feel like a long lost friend. He was a quiet man but a man of substance. I admired him greatly.

I am among the many to be priveleged to have Jack as my friend! When I think about my times with him over the last 40 years, I will remember him most for his unconditional love for Mary, Greg, Ali, and his granddaughters. They always came first.
For Greg, he drove 7+ hours one way to watch Greg play at St. Lawrence. He attended most of Greg's games as a coach at Northeastern, the Cranbury League on the Cape, Holy Cross, and most recently in the Cleveland minor league system. I know he cared some about the games but his total focus was to support his son. I remember him saying that he was thrilled that his son would enjoy earning a living being involved with his favorite activity - being involved with sports!
Ali has always been her Daddy's little girl! He loved everything she did unconditionally.
As we all know, Jack and Mary couldn't be any more different than they were. Jack was very unassuming but he delighted in Mary being a coveted friend of so many. He did his best to defer to things Mary wanted to do, participated in all the church activities that Mary has always been involved with, and he made it clear that Mary was his best friend and the love of his life!
One of favorite memories of Jack was his willingness to help others. Probably thirty years ago, a close friend of Mary and Jack had died. Just prior to his friend's death, the friend had purchased the materials to build a deck off the back of his home. Unfortunaly, he passed before he built the deck. Jack mentioned that he would like to somehow help to get that deck built. Neither he nor I had much experience in construction, but Jack suggested that we would give it a try. Over the course of a few weekends, we built the deck complete with rails and steps. I'll never forget the smiles of pride on Jack's face when the job was complete. It was my honor to help my friend provide an act of kindness and generosity to his friend!
I will miss Jack but in the long term, I will always be able to say that it has been my privelege and honor to have had Jack as part of my life. I pledge to always do whatever I can do to help Mary with anything she needs!
God bless you, my friend! You lived your life as you would have others live theirs!

Endearing, kind and generous of heart and spirt: those are the qualities I think of when I think of Mr. DiCenzo, aka "Jacko" (he was never 'Mr. DiCenzo' :) The DiCenzo house was always a house full of guests and THE meeting spot..everyone always welcoming you in. But my favourite greeter was always Jacko, with his unassuming smile and "Hey kiddo, how's it going?"...and he really wanted to know how you were doing. He was genuinely interested and asked questions. He demonstrated his kindness that way and in many others ways- in particular by dropping off coffees from Dunks (or whatever was needed) to Alli & I when we worked at St. Mary of the Hills School together. He was always looking out for others. When I think of him now my favourite image is of Jacko leaning against the fence at a Cape League baseball game, looking out to the field, so calm & happy, watching his favourite sport. I'm a better human knowing Jacko and I'll always cherish my memories of him and continue to carry on his spirit of kindness and generosity. My love and deepest of sympathies to you all: Mary, Alli, Greg and the whole extended family.

As one of the guys who played baseball with Greg up at St. Lawrence, I was fortunate to have a few conversations with Mr. DiCenzo. He always had some kind of tough, gritty remark about how he knew I was ready to take on the competition and that me, Greg and the team would be fighting for a win. It always gave me a spark to play hard. It was bonus when he was at our games. He gave off a tough but fun and loving vibe and he will be missed. I guess it helps me understand my friend Greg too! Love to all the DiCenzos!

I had Jack as a patient last week in BIDH. When I walked in his room he was very weak but quietly said “hi Kathy.” I asked about his granddaughters. He smiled and pointed to the wall. I looked over and said no wonder you’re smiling! He could barely talk but said his granddaughters made those pictures. RIP Jack, Tom has been waiting for you.

The world is certainly less bright without Jack in it. I will always remember his encyclopedic knowledge of everything baseball and his love of sports in general. The last time I saw him, we had a wonderful conversation about the Red Sox and even though I was nowhere near as up to speed as Jack about the team, he made it seem like we were ready to coach them to victory together. With that said, what I will remember most is his complete dedication to his family in all their endeavors. Jack lived for his family and friends and would doing anything for those he loved. Personally, I felt his love and support growing up around him and know that many others share this same feeling. It is a sad day that we have to say goodbye to Jack, but I am so very thankful that he was part of my life and I hope he can rest easy knowing that he had such a positive influence on so many lives. Take care Jack. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mary, Greg, Allie, and the entire Dicenzo family.
With all our love,
Brian, Jen, Taylor, Jordan, and Devon
