Obituary of Anthony M. McAlear III

Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anthony M. “Tony” McAlear III, 62, of Hull, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

Tony was the beloved son of the late Anthony M. McAlear Jr and Ellen T. (Quinn) McAlear.

Tony grew up in Scituate MA, where he graduated from Scituate High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University.

He lived most of his adult life in Pembroke MA where he raised his children and in recent years made Hull MA his home.

He is survived by his son Ben McAlear, daughter Brenda McAlear (Morgan) and their mother Tracey Doonan, as well as by four siblings: Robin McAlearWelsh (Kevin), Terry Cockey (Mike), Jim McAlear (Susan) and Steve McAlear.

He was also a loving Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Tony loved being a pharmacy technician and will be greatly missed by his colleagues at the CVS in Weymouth. He had a dry sense of humor and was never afraid to express his opinion. He enjoyed hockey and football, a good book and 80’s rock and was often seen wearing one of his favorite hats and smoking a good cigar.

In keeping with Tony’s giving nature, he was able to give the gift of tissue donation thru the New England Donor Services.

Visiting hours will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. Kingston, MA on Wednesday April 5, 2023 from 10AM-12Noon.

A funeral service will follow at 12Noon in the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Hull Village Cemetery.
