Dorothy (Dot) Sedergran Baker a 37 year resident of Duxbury died at home on Wednesday March 29th surrounded by family.
A lover of the outdoors, Dot was as avid gardener and landscaping was her favorite past time, Duxbury beach was her favorite spot and she spent many summer days there 4-wheel driving on the beach with friends. Dot was an active volunteer in Foxboro and Duxbury and a member of Bethany Congregational Church and Pilgrim Church of Duxbury.
Dorothy Sedergran Baker was born on November 6, 1935 and lived the first 25 years of her life in Needham. Dot met her husband, Daniel (Dan) Baker when they were both employed in the Nuclar Science Lab at MIT. Dan continued his career there for 40 years as a Mechanical Engineer, doing Research and Development and Dot left after 4 years to raise a family. In 1961 they moved to Foxboro where they lived for 25 years before moving to Duxbury.
Dot was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Dan in 2013. She is survived by her son Douglas of Laconia NH. and son Donald of North Attleboro MA. and her granddaughters Melissa, Amanda, Taylor and grandson David. She was predeceased by her first grandchild, Michael in 2003.
A private funeral was held at Mayflower Cemetery on Wednesday April 5rd, and a celebration of life will be planned for this summer, “her favorite time of year”. In Lui of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
