We feel so lucky and blessed to have known Reverend Merritt and his family. He had an infectious laugh and it was a privilege to call him your friend. We had left a church due to some differences of opinion. We were invited to attend and felt welcome from the first Sunday we attended until the time he retired at United Parish. When we dined at Dee’s Omelet Shop, we would always ask if Reverend Merritt had been there recently. We came to learn that he was a regular customer. He always finished his message with “May the Lord Bless and keep you…… . He will live in our memories forever. God Bless this wonderful man.

My favorite memory of Rev. Merritt was when he was the minister at United Parish. Myself and my son were late for church so we went upstairs and looked down as Rev. Merritt was looking up and around at all his people, he smiled at us and waved. His warm smile, so accepting, So caring and so welcoming is a beautiful gift he shared and reminds me to do the same, I send my caring thoughts to all of you who love him! Joanie Hibbard

My sympathy to the family and knowing and working with Bob, "Opps" Rev Merritt. This happened all to often when I called his home and Peg would answer. She would say that's ok just call him Bob. I worked with him on the Local Housing Trust in Carver. All to often a request was made for someone and he would never say "No" but "maybe" or "we'll see".
One of a kind, Lord please give us another, our town is in need!

Sending condolences to the family of Rev. Merritt. I am sure he must have known my Grandfather Capt George Perkins who lived in Carver for 75 years. My Dad Jon Perkins and my Uncle Jay Perkins also grew up in Carver. They have all passed on. I have great memories of visiting Carver, Edaville and my grandfather's cranberry bogs. God Bless.
