Obituary of Barbara G. Fernandez
Barbara Geraldine Fernandez, of Brockton, MA died Wednesday morning, June 28, 2022, at West Acres Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of Anna (Soares) and Manuel Deas. Educated in Whitman public schools, she graduated from Whitman-Hanson Regional High in 1950. She was an avid reader and sang in the church choir for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julio Fernandez, and two brothers, Gerald V. Deas and Emanuel John Deas, her daughters Christine M. Vega, Virginia A. Fernandez, her daughter in law Debra Fernandez, and her grandson Gerald A. Fernandez, Jr.
Barbara, also known as "Bitty", is survived by, her brother, Ronald Deas and his wife Carla Giorgetti Deas, of Carver, MA, three sons, Michael E. Fernandez and his wife Kathleen Leitao of Randolph , MA, Peter J. Fernandez and his wife Denise Burse Fernandez, of New York City, Gerald A. Fernandez of Warwick, RI, and one daughter, Julie A. Fernandez, also of Warwick, RI, four grandchildren, Tracy L. Fernandez, of Brockton, Andrew M. Vega, of Whitman, Derrick J. Fernandez, and Corey M. Fernandez, both of Warwick, RI, and multiple great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services are on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 575 Monponsett Street, Halifax MA 02338, 781.293.7971. Burial is at Fern Hill Cemetery, High Street, Hanson MA 02341 followed by a gathering for food, friends, and family at Meadow Brook Restaurant, 1486 Main Street, Hanson MA 02341, 781.293.7900.
