Obituary of Robert W. Cook

Surrounded by his family, Robert W Cook Jr. (Bob) passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Plymouth on December 5th, 2023, at the age of 82.

Robert was born in Weymouth, MA on August 6th, 1941, the oldest child of seven, to Robert and Frances Cook. In 1959, Robert joined the United States Marine Corps where he would achieve the rank of Corporal until his honorable discharge in 1963.

In 1967, Bob was married to his soulmate, Lois Bernadette Reardon who would remain by his side until the day of his passing.

Robert and Lois moved into their home in Kingston, MA in 1969 where they would raise their three children (Marianne Benevides (Cook), Robert Leo Cook and Suzanne (Suzy) Demartini (Cook). They remained residents of Kingston for the next 42 years before moving to Plymouth, MA in 2010. They would be blessed with 8 wonderful grandchildren (Aaron, Hayley, Jessica, Ashlynn, Samantha, Skylar, Jake, and Sydney) who would be the light of their grandpa’s life right up until his passing.

Robert was a member of St.Joseph's Catholic Church in Kingston and Saint Kateri Church in Plymouth and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus #4480. Robert was always very active in his community and served in many capacities for both Kingston Youth Hockey and Kingston Youth Soccer organizations.

Robert was employed as an Elevator Mechanic for Otis Elevator throughout his working life, retiring after four decades to become a full time grandpa serving as mentor, chauffeur, companion and biggest and proudest fan to his many grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his wife Lois; daughter Marianne (and Rick) Benevides; son Robert (and Heather) Cook; daughter Suzanne (and Greg) Demartini ; granddaughters Jessica Benevides, Hayley Cook, Ashlynn Cook, Samantha Demartini, Skylar Cook and Sydney Demartini; grandsons Aaron Benevides and Jake Demartini; beloved cat Riley; siblings Arthur Cook, Linda Littlefield, Ken Cook, Robin Cook, 17 nieces and nephews, their partners, and their children; best friend Ron Delorenzo and so many other amazing friends who were always considered a part of his family. He was predeceased by parents Robert W. and Frances (Bicknell) Cook; sister Karen Troupe, brother Jon Cook; brother-in-law Jerry Littlefield; brother-in-law Michael Hill; niece Bethany; and great-nephew Liam.

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8pm on December 15th at the Shepherd Funeral Home at 216 Main Street in Kingston, MA. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13th at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Kingston, MA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider doing an act of kindness in Robert’s honor. Robert was a kind and honorable person and we can’t think of a better tribute then to spread joy, love and kindness and help others in need.
