Catherine M. Sieminski - April 11, 1943 - December 8, 2023

Catherine M. Sieminski, OFD, passed away surrounded by her family on December 8, 2023. Catherine was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Gosselin of Dorchester. Cathy was very proud of where she grew up and of her Irish and French Canadian roots. Cathy was predeceased by her husband Thomas, son Thomas and sister Patrice.

While growing up in the city Catherine attended Fontbonne Academy and Aquinas Junior College. It was at this time that she met a strapping Pollack named Tom Sieminski. This is where their love story began. Tom and Cathy began in Dorchester, moved to Weymouth and eventually settled in Duxbury. Along the way they raised three boys Tom, John and Rob. Our parents were married for 49 years and were best friends. They managed to travel the world, as well as vacation yearly in Martha’s Vineyard and Florida. They both loved Duxbury Beach.

Cathy worked at Party Lite for 34 years. How she managed a family and a full time job still amazes us. Cathy loved to shop. She and her sister Pat, or Auntie Pat, would shop til you drop frequently - four hours of shopping, two manhattans at lunch, followed by four more hours of shopping. Cathy LOVED shoes. Her extensive shoe collection was a source of great pride for her. She loved jewelry as well. But most of all she loved people.

Our Ma had an incredible ability to make people smile. She loved laughing and hugs and could also laugh at herself. Some of her finest moments were as Gram. Gram had seven grandchildren and adored them all. She was coined the G’GOAT (greatest grandmother of all time) and cherished that role. She spoiled all of us.

Cathy is survived by her son John and his wife Liz of Dedham, Rob and his long time special friend Ellen of Kingston, and her daughter in law Jodi and her boyfriend Phil of Plymouth. She is also survived by her sister and brother in-law Cathy and Billy Welch of New York and her sister in-law Sheri Sieminski of Florida. In addition, Gram is survived by seven grandchildren, Tom( Tanya), Mike(Meghan), Kelsey, Bryan, Rachael, Caitlin and Teddy and had three great grandchildren Jack, Cam and the late Charlotte. Ma had too many friends to mention but a special thank you goes out to Maureen and Laura. We would also like to thank the Cranberry Hospice nurses for their incredible compassion and care. Our Ma was a very special woman who will be sorely missed.

A celebration of Cathy’s life  will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at Holy Family Church in Duxbury at 10:00am, followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Fairview Inn in Marshfield.
