Obituary of Marijo Gorney

Marijo Gorney (Cusick) passed away peacefully on 12/6/23 at the age of 84 at Wingate Assisted Living in Kingston, Massachusetts.  She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Feeney and her husband, Steve of Plymouth, MA and her son, Stephen Gorney and his wife, Kim of St. Charles, Illinois,  her grandson, Neil Feeney and his wife Natalie and her brother Bob Cusick and his wife Carol.

Marijo was born in Duquesne, Pennsylvania on 1/2/1939 to Ann and Charles Cusick.  She married Stephen Gorney in 1960 and moved to Washington, DC where she worked on Capitol Hill for 35 years for 3 different Republican Congressmen as a legislative assistant and legislative director. She was admired by all of her coworkers for her ability to look at complicated pieces of legislation and give recommendations on how to vote.

Marijo and Stephen then moved in 2000 to Mashpee, Massachusetts when they retired to be closer to their beloved grandson.  After Stephen died, Marijo worked for the National Graduate School of Quality as an assistant to the President.  She was also active in the town of Mashpee, acting as secretary in the Council of Aging.

In her retirement years, Marijo took her grandson on many wonderful European vacations and introduced him to the world

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 27 from 2-4 pm with a service to begin at 3 pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston, MA.
