Obituary of Beverly M. Mahoney
Beverly Mahoney, 86, of Kingston, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on January 9, 2024. She is the wife and soulmate of the late Dennis Joseph Mahoney Jr. She is the loving mother of six children; Michael Mahoney and wife, Annette of Kingston; Kevin Mahoney and wife, Gerrie of Middleboro; Dennis Mahoney and wife, Christine of Mashpee; Lisa Weeks and husband, Greg of Plymouth; Colleen Richards and husband, Ken of Kingston; and the late Patrick Mahoney. Adoring grandmother to Bryan, Katelyn, Ryan, Kelly, Samantha, Christopher, Hannah, Kayla, Amanda, Shelby, Molly, Janet, Jacob, Jillian, Joseph, and Brody. Great Grandmother of 11 with two more on the way. Sister of the late Bob Goode and Brother William Drinan C.F.X., beloved Aunt of many nieces and nephews, and best friend and kindred spirit of Ronnie Hiltz of Halifax.
An extremely talented crafter, Bev enjoyed spending her time on many projects such as sewing, quilting, crocheting and creating holiday decorations. She has made homemade baby quilts and clothes for each grandchild as well as Christmas stockings, dolls, slippers, and Afghans.
Bev spent many summers as a child on Monponsett in Halifax with her beloved grandfather JoJo. She also spent time in Rocky Nook, a place that won her heart. When the cottage that we rented as a family for many years became available for sale, our Dad knew he had to buy it. The family moved to Rocky Nook in the winter of 1977. Rocky Nook meant the world to her and the beautiful views from her favorite spot on “The Porch.” Bev absolutely loved the 4th of July and loved to celebrate it in a big way, surrounded by her huge family with a barbeque, yard games and fireworks.
As an avid Halloween lover, Bev was known for her handmade costumes and haunted house display. The house would take days to prepare for the spooky antics she loved. Haunted hallways, life size characters, and scary music with the screams of small children and adults alike. She loved it!
Bev was a voracious reader and could read 2-3 books every week on her Kindle. She also had a fascination with birds. She loved to watch them and learn about them. She would feed them and enjoyed their daily visits.
Bev had an incredible love for Prince Edward Island, Canada, a place she would vacation every year for five decades. Summers were spent surrounded by red clay beaches and sparkling waters, enjoying time in the sun with the island breeze. The special memories made there with family and friends will last a lifetime.
As the depiction of strength and grace, Beverly set the bar high and set an example for her family. With a life well lived, she exuded patience, humor, wit, sarcasm, resiliency, and unconditional love. She has left a legacy that will carry on, and in her words, “It’s all because two people fell in love”.
