Obituary of Charlotte Jean Ciancone

Please share a memory of Charlotte to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Charlotte Jean (Poppe) Ciancone, formerly of Key Ridge (Bellaire), OH, passed away on January 10, 2024, in Plymouth, MA.

Charlotte was born on December 30, 1938, in Moundsville, WV to Michael and Katherine (Mayo) Poppe. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tullio Sabastian and is survived by her sister, Eleanor McMahon (Shadyside, OH), four children, Michael Ciancone (spouse Julia, Houston, TX), Mary Katherine Hunt (spouse Jay, Duxbury, MA), Mary Jean Walters (spouse Darin, Chandler, AZ) and Marisa Ciancone (spouse David Valpey, Tonto Basin, AZ), 12 grand-children, 9 great grand-children and more on the way.

Charlotte enjoyed adventure during her 85 years of life, never backing down from a challenge or a thrill! From hot-air balloon rides, private plane excursions and watersports to off-roading on an ATV, she embraced it all! As part of the Lions Club International Gift of Sight program, Charlotte travelled to Jamaica, Bolivia, Bangladesh, and Thailand to help repurpose used eyeglasses for the less fortunate. She also competed as a race-walker for several years.

Charlotte LOVED all things Mickey Mouse and any and all teddy bears, of which she acquired many throughout the years. Charlotte was a spirited, intelligent woman. You always knew where you stood with her. Her love was unconditional and fierce! Her spirit made an impression on all who met her, and she will be greatly missed. At Charlotte’s request, there are no services planned.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlotte’s memory to the Lions Club SightFirst program
