Obituary of David C. Ballinger
David Clinton Ballinger, 74, of Kingston, MA, left us to begin his forever journey with "His Jesus", on Tuesday, February 27th, at Beth Israel in Plymouth. Sadly, David's death was provoked by a traumatic brain injury, a result of a fall at home. He fought his best fight ever, for two weeks before he slipped away surrounded by family members.
David was the fourth son, of James and June (Cram) Ballinger, Sr, both deceased. He was the brother of Jim, Sam, Alan, Mary, and Anne, who also live locally.
He was married to Sheila (Gallivan) his high school sweetheart, for many years, during the sixties. That was followed by a more than 50 year relationship with Emily Perry of Plymouth.
Undoubtedly, David left this world, knowing Emily was truly his "Earth Angel". David was father to Little David and his wife,Tina, as well as Victor, Maria, Nancy, Tyler, and Darena. He is pre-deceased by his children Darryl, Jason, Dominique and Jody.
He is Papa to 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He also has many nieces and nephews who love, and will miss, their "Uncle David".
David attended the Silver Lake School System, later becoming a Licensed Master Barber and Business owner. He was also a licensed Electrologist. He loved baseball, which began when he was an all-star little leaguer in Kingston. He loved music and was in a band during his high school years. To know David was to love him, as he could light up any room with his energy, humor and song.
Saying he was the life of the party, minimized the affect he brought to any table at any time. Least we forget, this included a pool or poker table.
He fought the demons of addiction during his lifetime, rarely winning. It was during these last years that he chose to re-embrace his Catholic Faith. He believed it was through "His Jesus" that he was able to keep the darkness away.
Nothing is more devastating than a candle no longer lighting the world. However, we have no doubt that David will be there to light our way with that same candle to bring us together again for an eternity. Until then, Rest in Peace, DCB
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 5th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 6th at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Kingston. A graveside service will follow at Vine Hills Cemtery in Plymouth.
In Loving Memory
David Ballinger
