Obituary of James Mustacaros

James “Musty” Mustacaros, of Lakeville, formerly of Plympton, passed away on Tuesday, May 7th at home.

He was the son of the late James and Petronella Koslowsky Mustacaros. He was born in the Bronx, NY and attended St. John’s Prep, graduating in 1961. He went on to attend Downing College, working toward an Associate’s Degree.

He worked as a security guard at Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant until its closing. He went to Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant to work as a security officer and firearms instructor for a number of years. He also worked for the Mass. Department of Mental Health as a caregiver for patients in various group homes. For the last 10 years, James has been employed as an outreach worker and van driver by the Council on Aging.

He was an avid coin collector, and loved horse racing and going to the Sarasota Racetrack every August to enjoy the horses. He loved watching football and baseball and attending many games.

He loved traveling, especially to his New Hampshire timeshare and cruising.

James is survived by his wife Pat, and his four children; James of Ronkonkoma, Long Island, Christine LaRosa and her husband Steve of Ronkonhoma, Long Island, Nicole Mustacaros and her partner Keon Ebron of Brockton and Alura Mustacaros and her partner Jamin Maki of Bourne. He is also survived by six grandchildren; James, Giovanna, Nazir, Coltin, Aiyla, and Evelyn. He is predeceased by his brother Ernest Mustacaros of Waxhaw, NC and Eva Alonso of Eustis, FL.

One of Jim’s greatest joys was being part of the Sociable Singles group where he and Pat met. They remained a big part of it and after they married they became honorary members.

Memorial visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 15th from 3-7:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 16th at 10:00 am at St. Martha and Mary Church, 354 Bedford St, Lakeville.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers or St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
