Obituary of Pauline S. Lopez
Pauline S. Lopez (Saunders), 61, of Carver MA, passed away on June 2nd, 2024 after a tulmultous battle with Lung Cancer.
Pauline was born on February 24th 1963 to Albert and Dorothy Saunders in Malden MA. She then resided in Medford with her five brothers and sisters; Mary Alice, John Michael, Patricia, Peter and Timothy. She attended Matignon High School of Cambridge and graduated in 1981. She continued her education at Rivier College, Saint Thomas Aquinas College and Suffolk University, graduating and continuing on to become a Paralegal.
In 1979, Pauline met Anthony M. Lopez at their mutual job at the Friendly's in the Museum of Science in Boston. Pauline and Anthony went on to have two children, Arianna Maria and Katerina Anne. They have two grandchildren, Trent Allan and Vivyenne Dorothy.
Those who knew my mother, know that she was unfathomably committed to her faith, closely following that was her family. She was always getting herself involved in the programs we were doing. Whether it was Band, Dance, or Girl Scouts, somehow she would end up in the support programs for it. She ran the Music Boosters for many years. In her spare time she would teach her faith, CCD, and anything else she could do for the church. When we were kids we would deliver gift baskets or Easter Lillie's to the elderly and shut ins. At School she did it all, she planned luncheons, programs, and always looked forward to the concerts and plays. She loved Broadway, and if you didn't know, my mother was a talented vocalist. She would always help you with anything she could, even if she didn't know exactly how to. She was always early to everything and so organized, I always wished I could be more like her in those ways.
Raised Roman Catholic, every moment of her life was lived with selfless grace and generosity. Pauline found education paramount. After working in admissions at Suffolk University to put herself through college, she gave over twenty years to the Carver Public School system. There was a small time in between where she worked for the Housing Department in Halifax, MA, and put her paralegal degree to work in Plymouth, MA for Lawyer Brian Barriera.
Her love of reading was unmatched. Jane Austen and Philippa Gregory were amongst her favorites. As well as anything American or politically historical.
As a mother, she sewed costumes, painted dance shoes, sat through concerts, recitals, competitions, games and meets. Her love of the arts was endearing… as was her love of sports. Any Boston team had her unwavering loyalty, no matter their record or roster. Even the Olympic Games were anticipated and watched with fervent interest.
A penchant for Broadway shows often led her off-Broadway, where she was captivated nonetheless.
Pauline was a believer in being kind to everyone, even when it was the hardest thing for you to do. She also was adamant that “when it is your time, it's your time.” In remembering her, please extend some kindness to someone who needs it, look for your rainbows, and keep your awe of the world.
Pauline was predeceased by; her parents, Albert and Dorothy Saunders,
her mother in law, Dominica Mastrangelo Lopez, and
her brother in law, Philip Bradish.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony M. Lopez of Carver. Her father in law, Antonio Lopez. Her Daughter Arianna M. Lopez, her grandchildren Trent A. Satrape and Vivyenne D. Schmidt, and her Daughter's Significant other Neal M. Schmidt Jr. of Carver. Her Daughter Katerina A. Lopez. Her Sister Mary Alice Bradish of Lawrence MA.
