Obituary of Constantine Doucas
Constantine "Gus" Doucas of Kingston, MA passed away on June 12, 2024 just shy of his 90th birthday. He was predeceased by his spouse Joyce (Martel) Doucas in 2002 and later predeceased by his companion Mona Buckley. He was a beloved father to Charles Noel Doucas and his wife Tina of Edgewater, Florida, Nicole (Doucas) Swanson and her husband Charlie of Stuart, Florida, and Christain Doucas and his wife Erin of Cooperstown, New York; as well as cherished Papou to Nicolaas and Kirk Doucas, Eleanor, Raymond, and Oliver Swanson, and Logan Doucas. Son of the late Charles and Polly (Voyagis) Doucas and brother to the late Anna Maria Doucas.
Gus was born in Brooklyn, NY. He was a proud Graduate of The Citadel, Class of 1956. A devoted son, he helped his parents maintain their property in Miami, FL until he married the love of his life, Joyce on 10-4-64. Gus and Joyce started their family and moved to Grassy Key hosting numerous friends and family while running Whisperin’ Pines Trailer Park while Gus continued his work with Interstate Life Insurance Company before moving to Cooperstown, NY and opening Whisperin’ Pines Chalet. Always fun loving and gracious hosts until Joyce’s passing. Gus was fortunate to have found love and companionship a second time in Mona Buckley with whom he shared several good years of travel and adventure. Gus finished out his healthy years in Kingston with his daughter Nicole and her family.
His final year Gus spent as a resident of The Life Care Center of Plymouth where once again he made great friends and memories. There were daily visits from Tucker, ice cream with Gramma ( Viola Swanson), weekly concerts , parties and visitors from near and far.
Regardless of his location Gus continued to be a fun loving, sweet, caring man who loved to share a good meal ( plus dessert and pizza), enjoyed music and dancing and the love of his family and friends.
A Celebration of his wonderful life will be held in Cooperstown, NY at 4128 County Hwy 11 on Saturday, August 31st from 12-5. Please plan to come with a story/memory to share.
His Burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Richford, VT on Monday, September 2 at noon with a small reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please "live like Gus." Find reasons to celebrate, remember family and friends come first, enjoy the steak but save room for dessert, sing loud and proud, and toast to a life well lived.
In Loving Memory
Constantine Doucas
