Obituary of Kevin Michael Winn
Kevin Michael Winn, 70, of Pembroke MA, passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Kevin was born in Boston, MA to Kathleen and George Winn on March 16th,1954. He graduated from Westwood High School in 1971 and earned a degree in Business Management from Suffolk University in Boston. Kevin met his wife, Penny, while they were both Peace Corps volunteers in Botswana. This experience not only informed his career, but also resulted in a number of life-long friendships. Kevin spent much of his career working for various banks in the Boston area, but he was most proud of his later work in nonprofits where he focused on low-income housing, and which culminated in more than 10 years at the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA). In this role at NACA, Kevin focused on helping low-income buyers purchase their first homes. Kevin was an avid reader and a true history buff. He spent many years coaching his children's basketball, soccer, and baseball teams before hanging up his whistle to become their #1 fan on the sidelines. Kevin was a life-long Boston sports fan, who often reminded his children how lucky they were to grow up in an era of championship banners. Family was the most important thing to Kevin, and he was incredibly proud of being a husband, father, brother, uncle, son, and son-in-law.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Penny (Janzen) Winn of Pembroke, his children Conner (Weymouth), Sarah (Dorchester), and Matthew (Los Angeles), and their partners, Alana, Molly, and Emily. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Betsy Janzen of Pembroke, his sister, Katheen (Winn) Colby and her husband, Jeff Colby of West Roxbury, his sister Eileen (Winn) Tomkiewicz and her husband, Walter Tomkiewicz of Canton, his niece, Carolyn (Colby) MacMillan and Alex MacMillan of Framingham, his nephew Tim Colby of West Roxbury. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Kathleen and George Winn of Canton.
Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Friday, August 2nd at 11 a.m. at St Joseph's Church in Kingston. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:30 -10:30 at Shepard Funeral Home in Kingston.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to a charity of your choosing in Kevin's honor.
In Loving Memory
