Obituary for Doris Ann Kellar

July 18, 1932 – September 11, 2024

 

Doris Ann Kellar, age 92, of Duxbury, Massachusetts died at her home on September 11, 2024.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Waldon and Florence Parker.  Doris was graduated from West Philadelphia High School in 1950.  She met Edward P. Kellar while he was a student at the University of Pennsylvania.  The two were married in Boston in November of 1955 and lived in Boston, Scituate, and England before moving to Duxbury in 1968.  Doris and Ed were married for 53 years before his passing in 2008.

Doris had many interests.  She was a long-time member of the Duxbury Yacht Club where she enjoyed golf, tennis and sailing.  She also participated in the rowing program at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School for several years.  Her hobbies included gardening, painting, reading, and playing bridge. 

Doris leaves her five children, Elizabeth, Robert and his wife Kim, Joan and her husband Matthew, Peter, David and his wife Emily, as well as her beloved labrador Holly.  She was a loving grandmother to Emma and her wife Autumn, Edward, and Ross and his wife Meaghan.   She was a great grandmother to Nathan and CJ.  Doris was the sister of the late Richard Parker, and leaves a niece, Judith Parker Rausenberger, and a nephew, Bob Parker.

Burial at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury will be private.  Friends are invited to celebrate her life at her home on Saturday, September 28th from 4-7 p.m.
