Obituary of Richard T. Guidoboni

Dr. Richard T. Guidoboni of Kingston, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2013 following a long illness, he was 83. He was born September 16, 1929 the only child of Gustavo and Albertina (Gilli) Guidoboni and attended Kingston public schools, graduating in 1947. After Kingston High School, he attended Dean Academy, followed by four years and graduation from Harvard College in 1952. His graduate work was at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, with graduation in 1956 as a Doctor of Dental Medicine. He served in The United States Air Force until 1960 where he was a Dental Flight Surgeon at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, DC, attaining the rank of Captain.
Following the service to his country, he established a private dental practice in West Bridgewater, MA and practiced at the same location for over 40 years retiring in 1999. He was West Bridgewater’s first Chairmen of the first Board of Health, and member of the Lions Club. For many years he donated his time providing dental services at Bridgewater State Prison. He belonged to the Tufts University Dental School Alumni Association, a Life member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts and South Shore Dental Association and the American Prosthetic Association. For many years he was a Clinical Instructor in Prosthetics at Tufts Dental School. He helped found, and was an instructor from 1970-1998 at the Dental Assisting Program at Southeastern Vocational Technical School, South Easton, MA, where the clinical lab is dedicated to his years of service.
He returned to Old Orchard Lane, Kingston in 1986 and enjoyed his home on the bay. He loved oceanography, engineering, aviation, dogs, financing and service to others, passions shared by his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed dentistry, boating, masonry, inventing, gardening, tinkering, grafting apple trees, and above all his family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice (Loring) Guidoboni, son Mark Guidoboni and wife Cheryl and Dawn Marie (Mahanor) Guidoboni wife of his son the late Commander Brian Guidoboni, USN. He was the grandfather (Nonno) to Christina, Jonathan, Marissa and Scott Guidoboni and the late Laura Mae Guidoboni all of Kingston as well as four nephews, and many cousins.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rt. 106)Kingston, from 4-8:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, 2013. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 270 Main St., Kingston, on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM, followed by a reception at the Parish Center. Burial will be private at the Evergreen Cemetery in Kingston.
