At Holy Cross, we often passed and spoke briefly, probably because he always smiled and made me smile. I think of him as the Gentle Giant.

I was saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. We were briefly roommates before freshman football. Then teammates for years. I always admired him for being a first class gentleman. He will be missed. RIP #84.

Bob was my roommate Sophomore through Senior years at Holy Cross. Needles to say we were close and got along famously. He was talented with interests ranging from defensive end on the football team to poetry. At least now he will be with his beloved Louise. It is a sad day and my condolences to his boys and family.

I was saddened to hear of the loss of Bob Noble. Mike Fisher and I had the room next door to Bob and Bill Sherida our Junior year. I developed a good friendship with Bob and enjoyed that time together. I had hoped to find him at one of the reunions to renew acquaintances, but I think I missed him.
May you rest in peace Bob and thank you for the good times together.
Fred Griffin HC ’66.

My favorite photo of Bob with Louise at my wedding in 1971. Every summer we visited in Wilton and later Duxbury. Bob often brought the kids on outings (Watermelon Eating Contest comes to mind). New England summer memories that Katie and Jonathan still recall fondly. Bob also was steadfast in his devotion to Denise and was a constant in her life.
There is no doubt in my mind that Bob has been reunited with Loiuse....the love of his life.

Here's another classmate from Holy Cross, Bill Snell '66. I was not close with your father, but I do remember him as a thinker and a gentleman. I am proud to have known him and to witness his maturity, while we were mostly just emerging from our emotional cocoons.

Bob Noble was a unique and cherished part of our Holy Cross class. A gentler, more thoughtful big guy you will never meet. You will be remembered at Mass tomorrow, Bob. Pray for us from your place at the Table personally prepared for you and Louise from the beginning of time. Fr. John Worthley

We've relished multiple-bonds with Bob and Louise, first John with Bob at Holy Cross and Mary with Louise at Newton College of the Sacred Heart, then each of us independently with Bob and Louise as a couple - then (after matchmaker Louise introduced us to one another in 1981 at Bob's and John's 15th Holy Cross Reunion) ourselves as a couple, and our kids from first marriages, with Bob and Louise and Christopher and Alex - and finally, after Louise's passing, the two of us meeting Bob for lunch or dinner a couple times a year, reminiscing about all the preceding. We're missing the service, away at a family reunion in Maryland. We had made plans with Bob to meet for lunch after we returned. Then the sudden sad news. Random memories of Bob - his penchant for singing the Bee Gees song "Words" - Bob, ever "the pondering thinker," wading deep in reflection, and meeting with, in his words, "paralysis analysis" - Bob's original brand of rap, before there was rap. We cherish our loving memories of Bob, and Louise. Mary and John Neale

Dear Christopher and Alex,
It was our good fortune to be friends with your dad at Holy Cross and in the years beyond. We will remember him as one of our most thoughtful, introspective and reflective classmates. Many fond memories of his late-night philosophizing -- sometimes in rhyming verse -- on the profound topics of the day. Known good-naturedly as “The Rare Bird” to many of us, he was unique in his perspective on life and his colorful way of expressing the myriad thoughts running around in his head -- he was even a rapper of sorts before there was such a thing as rap.
RIP to one of the really good guys in the class of ‘66.
With our sincere sympathy,
Bob and Puffy Meikle
