Peter Paul Coghlan passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 4, 1950, in Dublin, Ireland, Peter emigrated to America in 1974, the same year he married his wife, Susan. In 1978, they settled in Duxbury, where they raised their children and built a life filled with love and community.

Peter dedicated his career to the insurance industry, where he became a respected leader, known for his brilliance, integrity and hard work. He leaves behind many colleagues who were not just associates, but dear friends.

Peter was one of the most generous, kind, and earnest people anyone could know. He was truly selfless- asking nothing of others, yet always ready to quietly support his friends and family in any way he could, in his humble and understated manner. Peter embodied the true essence of a gentleman in the best sense of the word.

He is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Ellen Coghlan, and his sister, Muriel Coghlan. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Norah and Desmond Chew, and his brother, Denis Coghlan. Peter is also survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Susan; his son and daughter-in-law,

P. Timothy and Michelle Coghlan; his daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Robb D’Ambruoso; and his six cherished grandchildren: Ella, Michael, and Peter Coghlan, and Lucas, Molly, and Brooke D’Ambruoso, as well as nieces and nephews. Peter’s final months were marked by the compassionate care of his caregivers, Laurie Fusco and Nick Pacheco, who became a special part of his life.

Services for Peter will be held at the Holy Family Church in Duxbury on Wednesday, October 16th from 10-11:00  with a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 am. A burial will follow at the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.

He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends who were like family, and all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice
